Ms Sim Lily holds a Bachelor of Applied Science with Honours (Applied Chemistry) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Upon graduation, following her passion to teach since young, she enrolled into National Institute of Education, Singapore (NIE) and obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). She started her teaching career at National Junior College and taught there for more than 10 years. She left NJC in 2014 to fully focus on tutoring JC Chemistry, something which she is passionate about. She has more than 13 years of experience teaching A Level Chemistry.
To date, 65% of her students scored A’s and 93% scored A’s and B’s. 85% of her students who had originally scored U’s managed to score B’s and above in their GCE A Level Chemistry examination.
Ms Sim has the ability to break down difficult concepts into simple, bite size learning content to help students in their understanding and application of the subject. She has tutored H2 Chemistry to students from all JCs including Raffles Institution, Hwa Chong Institution, Victoria Junior College and Dunman High School.
Why Join Us?
Identification of the topics that students need help on is done through the review of students’ papers before the first lesson and after major exams when necessary. We focus on doing a thorough diagnosis because we deliver lessons effectively by addressing the specific challenges faced by students. See our Teaching Approach for further elaboration.
Clear and Concise Lesson Delivery
We do this through breaking down complex concepts into simple steps. Subsequently, we link concepts to application by outlining the types of questions that examiners ask during A Level Chemistry exam to test the concepts and we provide the solutions in response to those questions. Questions by students are answered and explained by Ms Sim via Whatsapp to help them in between the lessons.
Summary Notes and Question Bank
Our summary notes capture key concepts that are commonly tested and comments on questions by Cambridge examiners are highlighted to help students ace their exams. We have a question bank that have questions sorted out by topics and concepts from all junior colleges that give students the edge in their exams. Questions from the question bank are assigned to the students to reinforce their knowledge and application.
Due to unfamiliarity with the topics, students are often unsure about which topics that they have covered when attempting practice questions before taking their tests. We have designed a tool called the “Progress Tracker” to help students get real time data to ensure that they attempt the questions related to the topics tested to maximize their performance.
Proven Track Record
Approximately 93% of our students attained A’s and B’s for their A level Chemistry which speaks volumes of our ability to produce excellent results.
Depending on the student’s needs, we provide A Level Chemistry tuition with the various options: (a) private home tuition, (b) mini group tuition (2-4 students) and (c) group tuition (up to 8 students).

Testimonials from Students
Thank you for your encouragement and kindness for the 2 years. I have really learnt a lot from your Chemistry lessons and your assistance for my IAs and EE was of great help. I really appreciate the time you have spent to answer my countless doubts and questions which were quite repetitive and absurd at times. I really hope more students improve their chemistry grades under your guidance! Simon, ACS Independent, 7 for Chemistry
I only started tuition with Ms Sim a few months before my A levels. At that point, I was failing badly and even during prelims, I barely scraped a D. She provided me with ample resources that were comprehensive and helpful. Eventually, I managed to score an A for H2 Chemistry at A levels. Lydia Yeow, Dunman High School, U to A for Chemistry
When I started having lessons, my Chemistry was on the brink of failure, but by Ms. Sim’s teaching methods and constant revision, I was able to clinch an A grade in this year’s A levels. I’ve never been a good Chemistry student, but I feel like her notes and revision packages were more than adequate for replacing those from my school, and overall help me to improve my scores. Sean Wong, Raffles Institution, U to A for Chemistry
